City Charter Immediate Concern

As mentioned in a previous entry, perhaps the biggest issue in Saginaw politics at the moment is the possible passage of a new City Charter in May.

A series of "informational meetings" has been set up to promote the new charter proposal, which has some good ideas, but many flaws. The Saginaw Area Democratic Club, led by Communications Chair Dan Taylor, has taken it upon itself to be the voiced opposition to the Charter proposal. With the help of John Harris, Joyce Seals, and other local activists, the club has a public forum scheduled for Wednesday, April 4th at 6:30pm at Butman-Fish Library (1716 Hancock).

Anyone interested in being involved can contact Dan at sadc_communications@yahoo.com. The proposed Charter can be viewed at www.saginaw-mi.com.

*Note: I was planning to be more personally involved with this issue, but can no longer attend meetings due to the fact that my car broke down last Wednesday and I will be without transportation indefinitely.
